What year is my Tw200?

Hi all,

Does anyone know how to tell the year of a tw from engine or frame numbers. My bike is an import and i have a feeling frame doesnt match the engine, the paperwork cant be belived or the rego as it was transfered from another import (strange laws here in thailand!). I have the new type carb with plastic bit on the top so i think it's post 2001. Anyone got any idea how to tell exact year of bike for ordering parts?

Does it even matter wich year when it comes to ordering parts? Are the only differences that have been made disk brake on the front and new carb since the tw's release??

There are other subtle differences. Gas caps 2002 and earlier are large; later than 2002 they are smaller. The earlier bikes had slightly different electrical systems so year is important there. There is a sticker / label on the front tube that has the vin number and actually lists a year. The year stated is the model number, the vin number has a coded two digits that correspond to the actual manufacture date which may differ by one year from the model number. You can interpret all the digits of the vin number if you search for the info on the web. Good luck. Tom
