I just ran out for a quick pootle around today. Mostly to get some gas in my XT tank & see if the Chiwanese speedo worked.
It's the first time I've ridden it since the first time, since I've been doing a bunch of work to her. I doubt i did 20 miles, but it was just a really nice day to be out!

Plowed last night's snowfall then rode inspecting just how smooth I had shaved the ice and snow pack.
I almost did too good a job as the steep sections were mighty sketchy...thought my front brake wasn't adjusted properly to slow me, turned out it was just locked up and sliding downhill. Powering uphill was surprisingly OK as well as flat sections like this in front of game camera.

Only went to pavement and back, one slippery mile.:)
Good to get out on the bike. Greater ride height of TTR forks seem to work well.

Thanks Ken. Nice views where I live, but often a bit colder than your Houston. Fortunately warmer than another of our semi-local nice view group ride destinations... high up in the Sweetwaters. (Photo from late fall campout )

Sweetwater's dawn tomorrow thousands of feet lower at the nearest town is predicted to be -25F. Meanwhile I'll be a toasty 35 degrees warmer back home .

EDIT: Now Im getting cabin fever nostalgic, wish I was back rompin' the roads up there.

So true Denn. Yet sometimes there is a break in weather and the urge to ride overcomes common sense.:)

Not today though. Weathermen were wrong, 'twas minus 3 F at dawn this morning.
Still better than the minus 10 to 20 at Bridgeport. Red color is over 30 inches of snow, blue is over 100 inches.

Some residents use a second fancy rubber tire vehicle when they need to get to town. Down there these tracked rigs and snowmobiles line many an intersection of back roads and state highways.

partly cloudy, 70* light wind. Went to the hospital about noon today for pre-op. I have a colon scope later this week. I stopped on the way back and gassed up.(77mpg this tank)
I road the back roads home and a loop though the park gravel roads. I cut though my buddies 15 acres woods and the road by the water. (MS sound) Sea fog hanging by the water was cold and damp. About 40 miles altogether.

WOW - I could dig that bad boy if it were linked to a Dodge Ram. Especially a Dodge Ram T-Rex, 702HP = OH Hell Yeah!

I tried my TW in about 4-5 inches of snow and had literally ZERO traction. Then when I got on some hard pack it was - well like riding a cycle on ice - How the heck do you do it!

Good luck on your imminent colonoscopy. I've had several and honestly I'd rather die of a$$ cancer than ever go through another one. I hope your is uneventful.

well, if i didn't have grandkids i might have passed. Todays colon cleance is not as bad. miraLax is tasteless and totally dissolves in water. Easy to use unlike the nasty magnesium citrate. I had a colon leak a few months back. That or a blood clot, colon ischemia. I have a genetic clotting disorder and diverticulosis runs in the family as well so... ether way they go look to see whats up there to find out. I tried to get this done three weeks ago and on the table the surgon didn't like my report of the week before and wanted to wait fearing a rupture. I did a colon cleance for nothing.
They have read me my last right three times now and told me 30 years ago people don't live long with my blood defect. A colonoscopy is just another thing to do but hey, i washed the bike and got another 40 mile ride in today. I went to walmart and did the same trip as yesterday but i was sunny and warmer. I'm get another ride in before i start the colon cleance tomorrow.

At least they knock you out. The worst nightmare would be that you were awake.

A little different but still invasive, it reminded me of this movie. The bad thing is they don't show Steve Martins walk on this scene

Short spur of the moment ride from the house with a bit of shoreline this evening. 20 degrees, 3-4 month old fuel in the tank , the sticky kickstand switch showed up again & idle turned down from summertime. All adds up to lack of maintenance & prep. Great time for sure though. Got spoiled with a couple fuel injected bikes lately . Feels good to exercise the brain on the tw.

I took a lazy, first-day-of-a-week's-vacation bimble around today. I had to pick up a couple of little bits from Harbor Freight & some meds for my dog. It's a beautiful, 64° with bright sunshine.
I ran a bit of a speed test too.....

I didn't think it was too shabby for a 6'1", 265lb chonk like me! 😁

Local ride just to play in fresh snow .
26 degrees seemed bitterly cold after bare hands put in game camera SD cards and took a few photos. At times I was a clumsy cow on ice.

EDIT:
Game camera's temperature sensor must have been in the sun. Otherwise I must be a terrible lier.:)

Actually used temp from home's weather station's shade located sensor, 26 degrees.
Felt like 26 once I upshifted from second gear once out on pavement. Brrrr
