I try and do searches on here so as not to repeat the same tired newbie questions, but I'm a bit confused;;;

Some here say the Chinese pegs are pot steel, others say they're good. Have they quit making the pot steel ones? Any brand on Ebay as good as the next?

They work for me with no problems in about 1 year now. To each his own I guess. If they do ever break I may consider ims or another more expensive brand but I paid $25 for mine off ebay.

I bent a piece of 1" X 1/8th " steel strap into a U shape and welded it on to extend about one inch. Notched with a triangular file for grip. Worked great and still had spring fold up ability.
Could you post a pic of that? Seems I more frequently find extra metal lying around than money, might consider the fab. Thx.

One way to skin that cat. Others have tacked on sections from another set of pegs:

The cast IRON China jobs are totally bombproof. Not sure if those offered on eBay are the same as the D2Moto's, but if they are you can't break them. I bent a peg bracket into a U-turn but the peg was still good.

Thanks, that's exactly what I was imagining, just helps to see it done.

I'll look into the cast iron ones and post a link if I find them.

I just bought a pair for $24.95 and mounted them and never looked back. They look factory and seem strong enough to hold my semi large self. (o; I really do like them. Keeps my right boot from hitting the clutch cover and rubbing off my paint.. OMM,

After reading this thread I went and checked the pair of pegs that came in the parts box with the TW I just bought. Yep-pot metal-almost no weight to them. They look great but I think one hit will do them in. They will work fine as a template for me to make some wider ones.
