Updated, please read..8/24/11...ONE WEEK LEFT....

Well, it seems I put something in motion that caused some concern, perhaps a conflict of interest sort of. I was not asked to change my mind, nor my idea. I did however get the opportunity to see what I put in place through the eyes of another.

This is what I would like to replace the 'other' idea with instead; Many folks have lauded the benefit of Stickies and since our new forum home offers this option, I would like to induce our membership to glean through the information presented here.

Should you be so inclined, you can condense the presentations of others (giving credit where credit is due) and put something together like these already in place examples; the carburator/oil change/rear shock/valve adj. You can as well do something unique to You.

Your entry will be judged by any/all forum members that care to express an opinion.. I only have one rack, someone will need be the best of the best. Get thinking and go to work. Wait until the end of July to express your opinions on who has the best idea so you get to see them all. I will announce who impressed us the most the first week in August. I know, a slight change from before.

As before I will ship the Winner, a new, straight from the factory, TW Cycle Rack. Not having given much thought to this before, I now realize that shipping this rack off shore may not be possible depending on the way the Post Office measures it, as it is pretty close to maximum size. Should the winner be from some far away place, I will offer the rack for sale in our classified section and send all the cash to member via bank draft or some such thing. For those closer, should you have a rack, you can sell it in our classified section (only) and I will ship. Just don't sell it more than once
..

My only thought here is to make this a better forum, and extend the community spirit that seems to follow this bike to all its venues..... Gerry

Well, here it is (rack). Don (Cycleracks) is very fast and I almost ended up with two. The rack will ship as you see it. Many of you know, this is likely the 'first mod' on a significant number of TW200 machines. It can be yours for doing nothing more than making some processes, or ideas clearer, perhaps easier or more inspirational. We have a wealth of information here. Much of it can be made more valuable and easier to understand by putting together a dedicated thread that can be made into a sticky.

Make sure when you start you indicate what you are doing this for the contest, so no-one else posts in the thread. As well, I started late at night with the R. shock thread and 'reserved' pages by replying to my own posts leaving nothing more than "page 1, page 2 " and so on. Once I got as many pages I though I would need in a row, I set about editing the information into them. This way all my info was in place without the interuption of someone elses question or response.

Very nice idea Gerry. Being a member myself of both forums, the other forum has been very helpful, especially when this forum was having problems with the old host, and when I have had problems.

Upon reading a recent thread on this forum I made a statement concerning another TW forum. Since I belong to both, appreciate the efforts and generosity of both founders (Chopper Charles & Hodaka Guy) this is what I would like to present.

I have given much here and personally see no conflict so I hope this will not distress anyone. I would like to induce others to keep viable our other venue ( http://tw200.forumotion.com/ ) if for no other reason than to honor the effort that someone expended to create it (for us).

To participate, you will need to join the other forum and post 6 pictures that are TW related. The posts need to be in one of these specific fields (Adventures, TW200 Pictures, Oh those Sweet mods, Gear and Equipment Reviews). As to minimize any preception of conflict, 'try' not to post anything that you recently posted on this (Charles's) forum. You will of course have to join that forum and figure out (once again) how to post pictures to a forum (that one is a bit more complex is seems).

Now this is all "voluntary" and I personally see no conflict as I am not an employee of Home Depot sending customers to Lowes. I am in fact rewarding members of this forum for keeping another viable.

My hope is, members here likeing the idea of winning a "Free" Cycleracks rear rack (free shipping too) will feel comfortable expending a little energy to maintain another venue. As well, I hope that other of our members will at least visit that site ( http://tw200.forumotion.com/ ) to take a look and return here to vote. I hope....

I will leave the closing day for voteing July 31 of this year. I hope the way this is set-up, you will only have one chance to vote, with this in mind, I would suggest that you wait until the very end of the contest to make sure you have seen all the entries. In this way all posters have had an equal chance of having their post acknowledged.

please indicate your post is for the TW forum contest so I and others will know

if you already have a rack, enter anyways. If you win, you can sell the rack in either of the forums classified sections and I will ship to the buyer at no charge to anyone (sept me).

If this really rubs anyone the wrong way, send me a PM and we can discuss it. Hodaka Guy has posted lots of great stuff here and the last 'conversation' I had with him is likely to have been over two years ago. This is not intended to benefit anyone beyond those interested in the TW200.

Since this action is something of a personal experiment for me, their may be a few glitches or hick-ups. Should this happen, please lets not let this create any "tension". There will only be one rack to give away. It will be new and you will be responsible with mounting or dealing with Cycleracks as I will ship it as they ship it to me. Take care, Gerry

Thanks Gerry. That's a great incentive to get some pics. I'll get around to it in July since June is a bit packed full of other stuff. Thanks also for the welcome to the forum. Am glad I dropped in and have browsed around and found lots to chew on. Here in South Africa I thought I'd have to import a rack but checked yesterday at the local Yama dealership and the same old Indian who put me onto the semi-retired mechanic I told about in the intro story shook his head. I looked on the floor at the foot of the acessories shelf and noticed something familiar thanks to this forum. It was a little rack for the equivalent of $95. When we dusted it off it had the TW 200 fitting instructions in the bag. He said its been here so long I can have it at cost. Its not in the same class as the one you have but here's an adventure I have planned with the small one for July. It will involve international travel to the highest pub in Africa in midwinter through ice and snow to an altitude for aeroplanes. I think that this little bike is up to it if it could make it to the North pole. A friend of mine crewed the Dakar recently on a KTM 650. I was talking about my TW and he said that they had to 100 mph on the straight. We reckoned that not much sight seeing can be done at that speed. Climbing up and down the Roof of Africa is best done slowly, safely and is to be savoured.

You can check out the the route and destinations below.

The task at hand will require some work, but it is pretty straight forward. The two stickies that I was able to put together had me gleaning through many posts and compiling information that I thought would be of value to others. It seems many folks were interested in carrying more fuel, and improving the TW's suspension. I assembled much of what others had done to carry more fuel, and as well, improve their suspensions and put together two stickies featuring those efforts.

There are so many topics here that many folks have spent lots of time researching but they are still fragmented and not likely to be fully appreciated as overtime they fall pages behind.

You can extract what is the meat of the many "cam" mods and paste them all together. I am of the opinion that this could help many future engine modders in the future. This is but one example, I think the possibilities are many. Here are but "a few" of some great sticky examples.

There have been lots of questions about camping/touring on a TW. Compile the adventures of others. Present do's and don't based on the experiences shared and gear used.

LOTS of great engine mods, but the info is all over the place and will (is) almost out of sight. Compile, compose and present.........

The 5 most common mods most new TW owners do (with pictures and explanations).

Don't need or want a rack. Win it anyways and "give it" to another valued member who's efforts inspired you.. Sell it and donate the money to the forum owner or moderator that has given more of their time than we likely realize.

No forum gets better without the efforts of it's members.
