In a fit of maintenance frenzy, I broke the zerk fitting on Mrs Trip's swingarm. Long story short, the swingarm is now off the bike. To completely remove the broken zerk I had to use a tap to clean the threads.
When tightened down, the little zerk fitting should be at a 45* angle facing out so it can be accessed when installed. I am assuming that due to chasing the threads with the die, it lost just a smidge, and at finger tight, the fitting now wants to settle facing inward. It will not take another revolution. What is the proper way to deal with this? I could use a little Teflon tape. Is that OK? Its off by about 1/3 turn.
