I'll be modifying the heck out of it, doesn't need to be perfect, just needs to be a smokin' deal.

I kinda doubt anyone has one of these just laying around, but I thought I'd put it out there.

I've got two stockers - you can sandwich them together with Gorilla glue or end to end to make a bike long skid plate. Oh, I guess not. Tom

That's actually not as silly as it sounds, Tom. A story for another day, but minus the Gorilla glue it's a good low-buck solution if done right.

I'm outfitting a TW for my brother. I love the guy, but not enough to buy him a TCI plate.

"Done right" (at least to me) entails sandwiching the two together with fiberglass, silicone, urethane or something similar while maintaining even spacing between the two shells. You'd want to make provision to re-install the rubber bumpers. The whole mess would be about 1/4" thick and far stronger and impact resistent than simply stacking the two together.

Cured silicone would be the quick and dirty method.

My next plate experiment will be HDPE. Just took me awhile to obtain black HDPE locally. If you don't care about stealth Walmart probably has all the white material you need in the housewares dept.
17" x 12" oughta do it.

The shape of the stocker doesn't lend itself well to thick HDPE. I'd just ditch it and more or less duplicate an aluminum aftermarket skid from the material. I got lots of ideas for that, including a way to lose the "hook" arrangement at the rear and replace it with something more substantial. The stuff's kinda heavy in 3/8" or 1/2".

The working temp on HDPE is really low, something like 260 degrees. It's possible that it could be formed in a home oven if you wanted to make a thin skin. I dunno, maybe a plasics guru could tell you.

One of the reasons I wanted the skid was to use it as a form before I put it on my bro's bike.

I'd have to go look to be sure but I'm 99 percent sure I still have my brand new, never used Ricochet skid plate out in the shed or something. Unless I lost it or something, I still have it. Being that it is literally brand new and in perfect shape, I'd want to get some decent money for it though. How does $70 sound ($13 cheaper than new and you wouldn't have to pay tax or shipping)? I'd even be willing to meet you with it at Chaparral or something. Oh yea and I'm selling my TW. Check my post in Classifieds if you want lol.

Back in the day LOTS of shovels sacrificed their lives to become skid plates.
