I just received the latest issue of Consumer Reports, and they included a brand new "MOTORCYCLES" section based on a reliability survey they conducted.

Yamaha took first place for make with the fewest reported problems!

Only 11% of Yamaha owners reported problems, compared to 14% of Honda owners. Kawasaki came in 2nd place with 13% of owners.

Of course CR follows the chart with a lengthy disclaimer explaining why you can't trust the chart, but I say we chalk it up as a win!

I believe it, I read over on advrider and those guys swear by BMW and KTM. Nobody notices they break down in half the ride reports.

Costs more than a used TDUB just to fix those bikes!

I do love the little TW, but when it comes time to ride on the highway, the choice between my wife's V Star 650 Classic and my Honda Shadow Aero 750 is quite clear. The Shadow has 38,000 miles on it, and the V Star has 2400.

Her V Star gives me a backache almost immediately! Of course my Shadow is an '04 and the V Star is an '09, so the mileage thing is somewhat relative.

My neighbor just traded in his 2011 R1200GS in frustration due to an oil leak at 7k miles. He got burned on the trade, I told him to have it fixed. He got another BMW- as if that makes any sense.
