Hello, I have a 2016 Yamaha TW200. Unfortunately the motor needs to be completely rebuilt due to the previous owner. I found a 1993 TW200 motor online and would rather do a swap then rebuild the motor. I am worried about the current CDI on the bike. Are all the CDI's compatible with these bikes? If you have a part number or reference for who sells them please let me know....

I have a 1993 and it has been great. Check Partzilla and pull up the p/n for the 1993 on the CDI and then do the same for the 2016. That will let you know if they are the same p/n. I think the 1987 is the one that is different. Welcome to the forum.

Hi David and welcome to the forum!

The 1993 engine will bolt right in to your 2016. If you use the flywheel and left side cover/stator from your 2016 engine on the 1993 engine, then your existing CDI will plug and play just fine. You will also now have the bonus of a kickstarter!

Good luck!

Brian
