I have learned that before I thoroughly break something needing repair to go to Youtube for possible diagnostic and disassembly clues.
Yesterday's challenge was a misbehaving older sewing machine.
I could tell it was likely a timing issue but sought confirmation since I don't know sewing or sewing machines from a hole in the ground.
Fortunately I found a sewing machine repair series done by a man for dummies like me. I felt vindicated in my ignorance when author kept referring to "string" rather than thread. Even I know better. Sometimes others faux pax can make you feel better about yourself.
Anyways the successful repair earned me a Thank You kiss from Mrs. Fred who likes to pretend I am heroic. Thanks again Youtube!

I find Youtube particularly useful in understanding how something works – then I know the appropriate sized hammer to use …….. :)
