In Wisconsin, they only need the VIN. If that’s what they need it’s on the frame neck. There‘s a label and it’s stamped into the neck.

 

Yeah, the form they gave me has spaces for the VIN and this Federal label. Maybe that's only Car specific. I dunno.

This will be my third trip to the DMV trying to get this damned thing registered. Hopefully it works out this time.

 

The federal label is the white label on the frame near the steering column.

I don't think it's those ones. Those ones are emissions related. The ones they are asking about are safety related

 

Take a photo of the label on the frame near the steering post. It should say on the label that this vehicle or motorcycle complies to all federal safety rules or regulations. This is what the dmv is looking for. The label tells manufacturer, date, gvwr, type of vehicle and conforms to all federal safety standards. Maybe your label has been painted over or removed?

 

Found it- didn't think to look "UNDER" the frame.
