PSI for the shinko 241?

I just had a shinko 241 put on my 2021 TW. I didn’t feel comfortable with my tire changing skills to do it myself, so I pulled it off the Tdub and took it to a local dealership. I ride a lot on gravel roads and the death wing stories always had my pucker factor maxed out. Anyhow they put 30 psi in the new tire. I took it out for a ride and it felt a little squirrelly when I hit the gravel, so I pulled over and let some air out. I didn’t have a gauge, so I had no idea what the psi was. Whatever the amount I let out it did feel a little better. When I got back I put the gauge to it and I had let out 20 psi!!! It did ride better, but is 10 psi too little? When I do trail ride it’s on dirt trails with some rocks mixed in. I try to avoid going “muddin” and straight up rock climbing.

The TW really does well on gravel if you weight the front wheel. Sit as far forward and lean out over the bars to get as much weight on the front wheel as you can. I call this my 'attack' stance. I'll get far enough forward, I do not see any of the motorcycle. It's like the bike is somewhere behind me and I'm out front leading the way. That seat has a long tongue on it going up the tank for a reason. Ride up there on gravel and see what you think.

I’ll definitely give that a try. Riding on gravel definitely gave the front end a “floating” feeling. Unfortunately it’s raining today, so I’ll have to wait. I’m afraid today maybe the first day since I bought the Tdub a couple months ago that I won’t be able to ride.

10 to 12 PSI works well for solo riding but from GRAGEBOO'S two up avatar the couple may wish for a bit more pressure when riding together.
Just how much aditional air pressure I'll leave to others with 2-up experience.
Certainly I do not fear low pressure on or off road. The TW's small rims and stiff tires do not seem conducive to pinch flats, at least from my memory of a few thousand TW200 Forum postings.

Yes, experiment. Many of the PSI's folks have already listed will work but you gotta find the sweet spot for you. If mostly on gravel/dirt you generally would like it south (lower psi) of 16/18 though.

I have bluetooth TPS on my BMW and check tire pressures before and during rides, along with alarms settings.

Sometimes I kick or squeeze my TW tires to see if they have "enough" air.

:D

If I were to guess, I'd say 10-12. Maybe lower since it's cold out.
